The Past

For over a century, the tall brick building at 172 Hurontario Street has stood as a landmark in downtown Collingwood. Originally built in 1895 as The Dominion Hotel, it’s played many roles — from one of the town’s first hotels to apartments, and now beautifully restored as The Dorchester Hotel.

Once rumoured to have launched Stompin’ Tom’s career and home to Collingwood’s first elevators, the building is rich with stories. Guests once watched the buzz of Hurontario Street from their balconies — and now, we’re bringing back that spirit, with thoughtful, modern touches for a new era.

MEET THE OWNERS

Meet Tammy & Chris Millsap

Born and raised in the Collingwood area, Tammy and Chris Millsap have spent over two decades building successful businesses and investing in local real estate. Passionate about preserving Collingwood’s heritage, they saw an unmissable opportunity in the historic building at 172 Hurontario Street.

Purchased in April 2021, the Millsaps worked closely with architect and design teams to thoughtfully transform the former apartments into a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel. The result: a reimagined Dorchester, where rich history meets inspired modern design.
