HISTORY

1920’s Charm meets Modern Luxury

The Dorchester Hotel is a modern take on a historic treasure. For 129 years, the tall brick building at 172 Hurontario Street has been a landmark heritage building in Collingwood’s downtown core. The building was first built in 1895, and was originally named The Dominion Hotel. It was later restructured into apartment buildings, and then back to a hotel with a new (and more established) name, The Dorchester. Not only was The Dorchester building originally one of Collingwood’s first hotels, it’s also rumored to have kick-started Stompin Tom’s career, and had the town’s very first elevators! As seen in the photo below, guests were known to relish in the delights of the Dorchester’s ambiance while enjoying the excitement along Hurontario St from their balconies. We’re looking forward to bringing back the hotel’s glory days, with thoughtful and modern touches along the way!

WORDS FROM OUR GUESTS

  • "An incredibly classy hotel that is such a gift to the town of Collingwood! Slick rooms, beautiful service, an incredible adjoining restaurant called The Tremont Cafe—all these details contribute to a FIVE STAR hotel experience that rivals Europe.

    - Natalie

  • "I’d give this place 100 stars if I could. The design of the hotel is categorically stunning, the staff are extremely welcoming and accommodating, accessibility and convenience is next level and the Tremont Café downstairs has a manager who went above and beyond for us (+ the food was unreal)."

    - Gurdeep

  • "The details, the design, the set up and location all perfect. Whoever the interior decorator was nailed it. I stayed here for a couple nights on a corporate retreat and loved it so much I brought my family back up for my wife’s birthday. We came to Collingwood just to stay at this hotel and they loved it. Gave us vibes similar to a Hotel we stayed at in Paris, France but this one was cozier."

    - Joe

  • "So easy to give a five star review. A great location downtown. Well decorated rooms with taste and care to preserve the heritage. Friendly service of a privately owned family business and dedicated team."

    - Hugh

  • "A beautiful hotel within walking distance to everything downtown Collingwood. The staff are enthusiastic & helpful and the rooms are beautifully curated. It's the epitome of a cozy stay in classic surroundings."

    - Natalie

  • "The best hotel experience I've ever had. Not only because it's the most beautiful new hotel in Ontario, it's because the staff are the very best I've ever met."

    - Roman

  • "We have stayed in many five star hotels and none were finer than The Dorchester. Great attention to your guest needs."

    - Tom
